Triple-A in art history, math, and CS — a VR reconstruction of a Renaissance cathedral earned Brown.
Student Background
A UK high-school student with A-Level A, A, A in art history, math, and CS, devoted to Renaissance art — but her activities were mostly “essays plus museum visits” with no digital innovation.
The Challenge
Brown’s art-history niche is small but demanding. How could digital tools (VR/AR) rebuild how art history is learned?
Mentor Strategy
A digital project
we guided her to build a VR tour of a Renaissance cathedral in Unity — reconstructing the architecture and frescoes with embedded art-history knowledge (perspective, religious symbolism) — tested with a local museum, and awarded a “digital humanities innovation” prize.
Cross-disciplinary research
she built an “art history plus data visualization” mini-study, analyzing artists’ production frequency and patron networks in Python with interactive charts, showing the social machinery behind art — and mapped it to Brown’s open curriculum.
Materials
she submitted the VR demo and visualization portfolio; her essays argued that digital tools let art history step out of the museum as an interactive cultural experience. She was admitted RD to the art history and digital humanities direction.
The Result
Admitted (RD) to Brown University (Art History & Digital Humanities)
